Very pleasant totally plastic decor in this long narrow one roomed bar. Late licence - Everyone out in Kirkby seems to come here when the pubs close. |

This rather pleasant plain working class pub with two bars is another 50s construction on this enormous council estate. It has comfortable bench seats in the bar and a nice lounge and was quiet and friendly on a Sunday afternoon. Unusual to see keg Higsons still available. Boddingtons Pub Company. |

Wetherspoons (Gold Balance) |
üusuals |
G806 |
Opened early 1999, this is at the lower end of the Wetherspoons spectrum, but still well looked after, clean and tidy and serving fine beer. The Rev. Thomas Wilkinson, who was vicar of St Chad’s, Kirkby in the 18th century, invented the Gold Balance and the Pocket Balance for sovereigns - Probably used for weighing something else in these parts nowadays! |
